From a convention standpoint, San Diego Comic-Con is one of the biggest and most exciting events out there. Dedicated fans appear in droves -to the tune of over 130,000 attendees- and the energy is nothing short of contagious. In 2015, LeapStarr partnered with Square Enix for an activation that was massive in scope; it took up an entire city block across from the Convention Center! Guests 18+ were invited to “Square Enix: The Experience”, which highlighted three games that were being newly released (Deus Ex, Hitman & Just Cause).
The concept was to literally bring the games to life and engage consumers to the point that they thought they were living out their favorite games themselves! Highlights included: Duex Ex’s “Urban Playground” (which featured adult-sized obstacles, including a giant foam pit), Hitman’s “Training Academy” (where guests went through a set of activities as if they were training to become a “Hitman” without getting “caught”) and Just Cause’s “Zipline” (where guests flew down a 150’ zipline while wielding laser guns and shooting at targets to gain their place on a scoreboard).
